newsletter - july 2001 (no. 2)

frames stuff...

so - im trying to concentrate with 3 kids behind me 'makin' and doin'' and generally being loud - its 90degrees outside again and it feels like a sauna in here... and theres only 4 days to go til i pop over to dublin to witnness- summer is well and truely here (for a week at least).

as i always say at the start of these 'letters' - ill try and be breif (ha!) - as i have a million and one things to do before the days out... so... here goes.

1 so thanks to the senator we have an all-new looking shiney/flashy site... www.theframes.ie - its still in its infancy so bear with us as things might swip and swop about abit over the next wee while. if theres anyone out there (like me) who cant get the flash player for whatever reason and therefore cant get into the site, hit the plateau link under the big picture and go in that way...that should work - and if any of you are having ANY problems please do email me about them and we can try and sort them out. i must just take this opportunity to say a HUGE HUGE thank you to seosiamh o'shea who started the plateau site and really got the ball rolling. without him we would be an outfit without an arm or two as it has just proved so invaluable in getting information in and out to anyone and everyone whos interested over the past couple of years. .seosaimh is off to do other stuff in his life and moving about the planet - but thanks so much to you sir - you are a true gentleman and keep in touch.

keepin on new site things - if you are already on the newsletter you DONT need to rejoin again (bored chicken - i already have you like loads of times sir...) but ive been hit by a further 25 new people in the last 24 hours - so welcome on board, nice to have you. i think we'll have to build a new extension to the house soon...

2 uk - album is coming out through 3mv on plateau on oct 1st now. this gives us time to wind it up as best we can. cant afford to put the single out there yet - but the album needs to be made available - so there ya go. unfortunatly the band wont be around in sept now - theyll be in ireland/america doing stuff til mid nov - but if anything changes ill obviously let you know. we got a play on the evening session on radio 1 last thursday - which was very nice indeed - thanks totally to the bbcn.i. guys for that.

3 the single 'lay me down' will be in shops in ireland on the 3rd aug - lay me down, tomorrows too long, rise and plateau 'live' with vid footage from brittnness last year...

4 britnness this year... am working on it as we speak. if you want to come - keep the 18th aug free and ill email you all with other details when they are finalised... also - PRAY for good weather... and decide what youre going to bring in the way of a packed lunch/4 pack. all i can say is that it wont be at the same beach and mobile phones wont be allowed onto the site... more info after witnness...

5 i lent my another love song out to someone to burn and i dont seem to have it back - anyone got it out there? i really could do with it back - thanks.

6 the vinyl album is available at the moment in road records in dublin and on line at www.roadrecs.com. we should be selling it from our site too real soon but we are working out the logistics at the moment (like shifting them from someones mothers house and physically getting them to me so i can mail em out... also - i need to find some sort of sturdy record mailer so they dont get mashed in the post - any ideas gratefully welcome...)

7 glad to say that phantom radio in ireland 91.6FM are back on the air - good to have you back.

8 the double a sided 7" with calexico for volta - "Our Volta Sounds (incorporating Volta Beats) show is going to be on Thursday 13th of September at Whelans. We'll have Paul O'Reilly's album, the Creative Control 12" and The Frames / Calexico 7" to launch" - from the horses mouth. this is the single 7" that will feature the frames version of 'new partner'.

9 i beleive too that there is one of glens songs at : http://www.alpharelish.com/web/show_record.cfm?Record_ID=41

13 general other stuff pans out like this - mid sept theyll be in america doing stuff various from cmj to further recording. they will tour in america towards the arse end of sept and through october to promote the album there, which is out on overcoat records on the 23rd october. the oz plans at the moment are looking like coming to fruition in march of 2002 around paddys day...as usual ill let you know when and how and what transpires. back around ireland proper in november... oh, and the czech and slovak republics were amazing - be back there soon enough we hope. oh, and also before i forget - thanks to everyone in the uk who came out to support them at the front of this month - they had some real special gigs this time around, especially at the borderline...well that was hard not to feel great when brian eno is right up front really digging it!

14 right, im off to clean up the paint, glue and glitter... suffice to say - have a great summer - and maybe see you at one of the shows over the next wee while... be good, best love, cx
